78-Year-Old Woman Pronounced Dead after 2-Car Collision on Paradise Road

MODESTO, CA (June 20, 2022) – A two-vehicle crash on Gates Road claimed the life of Helen Byers, Tuesday evening.

On June 14th, officers responded to a report where a vehicle was sent into a canal that runs parallel to Gates and Paradise Road.

According to initial investigations, Byers stopped at a red light on Highway 132. She then proceeded into the intersection where a westbound vehicle struck her.

Upon impact, her vehicle veered off the road and submerged into the canal. After being pulled out, medics started CPR and Byers was taken to a hospital.

Despite life-saving efforts, medics later pronounced 78-year-old Byers dead at the hospital.

Moreover, the driver of the other vehicle suffered minor injuries. Although, authorities have not yet released their name or place of residency.

At this time, an active investigation into the fatal crash along Highway 132 is currently underway.
