22-Year-Old Passenger Killed in Big-Rig Collision on 215 Freeway

RIVERSIDE, CA (August 3, 2022) – Monday morning, a car crash on the 215 Freeway near McCall Boulevard, claimed the life of Hector Serrano.

The collision happened shortly before 6:00 a.m., on the southbound 215 Freeway north of McCall Boulevard.

According to reports, a tire on the big-rig blew out on the 215 Freeway. The truck driver then lost control and veered into another lane.

A 2002 Toyota pickup-truck swerved to avoid being hit, but also lost control and rolled before coming to a stop on the freeway. The 46-year-old Toyota driver sustained minor injuries, but his passenger, 22-year-old Serrano, was pronounced dead at the scene.

In addition, the 45-year-old driver of the semi-truck remained uninjured.

Crews closed the surrounding area for a brief time during cleanup and preliminary duties before it was later reopened.
