If so, the U.K.'s Capsule, who organize the seemingly mindblowing Supersonic festival, and Home of Metal are looking for researchers to join in the study the “birthplace of Heavy Metal,” Birmingham and The Black Country, England. Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, Judas Priest, Napalm Death, and Godflesh sprung up from the region, but they study asks the question: Why here? If you're wonding too, here's the pitch:

on The Home of Metal Project. Ideally you will have a strong interest in the music genre, experience of research methodologies and an ability to work under your own steam, supported by the guidance of Capsule, the volunteer programme manager and our experts in the field. A working

knowledge of research methodologies is crucial to the role.

Capsule are looking to recruit a research intern to work on the Home of

Metal Project.

Home of Metal is a project of national and international profile aimed at

celebrating Birmingham and The Black Country as the birth place of heavy

metal music.

Timescales:

Feb 2010 – Summer 2011, this is negotiable and we are happy to look at

splitting the research intern/s post into 6 month slots.

Person Specification:

We are looking to recruit a research intern to work directly with Capsule

on The Home of Metal Project. Ideally you will have a strong interest in

the music genre, experience of research methodologies and an ability to

work under your own steam, supported by the guidance of Capsule, the

volunteer programme manager and our experts in the field. A working

knowledge of research methodologies is crucial to the role. You will need

to have the ability to work to deadlines and be a reliable part of the

team. An ability to work as part of a team is crucial and it will be an

advantage to easily communicate face to face, with colleague's

interviewees and the general public. Experience of IT is important as

there will be some administration involved in this role.

You will be working under the guidance and support of the volunteer

Programme Manager.

What's involved?

– Historical research of metal music in the Midlands, in the context of

key areas, aims and project objectives set out by Capsule.

– Collation of information gathered from other research volunteer sources,

including oral histories.

– General administration – word processing, spread sheets and emailing.

– Attending group meetings and, when necessary, one2one updates with the

PM
