Some bad news about HEARDFest that was supposed to be happening this weekend. From the HEARD folks:

Since the incidents that took place at EDC a couple of months ago, state and city governmental organizations have been placing large scale media events under hypersensitive scrutiny. After weeks of wrangling and attempting to jump through hoops to accommodate our festival to the restrictions of the Los Angeles State Parks organization, we were eventually faced with the surprise ultimatum of paying an astronomical sum of money for security/other amenities or no longer have the event take place in the park itself….We are still going to have an event at Junction Block (the site of the indoor stage) on August 14th, but at a scaled down pace.

Bummer sandwich.

Dear Discerning consumer of media,

We have some unpleasant news regarding HEARDfest. Since the incidents that took place at EDC a couple of months ago, state and city governmental organizations have been placing large scale media events under hypersensitive scrutiny. After weeks of wrangling and attempting to jump through hoops to accommodate our festival to the restrictions of the Los Angeles State Parks organization, we were eventually faced with the surprise ultimatum of paying an astronomical sum of money for security/other amenities or no longer have the event take place in the park itself. This ultimatum was presented to all festivals taking place in the park in the upcoming weeks and, unfortunately, we don't have anywhere near the budget to accommodate all those zeros.

Instead of rushing to attempt to compensate for the loss by finding a new venue and risking compromising our original vision, we've decided to postpone the festival until we can do it on the terms that we envisioned. We're pretty bummed and we apologize to everyone involved.

! ! ! !LOOK AT THIS PART! ! ! !

Hooowwwweeeevvvveeerrrr,

We are still going to have an event at Junction Block (the site of the indoor stage) on August 14th, but at a scaled down pace. It is still gonna be a great show and a party, but it will not be the 'HEARDfest' we've envisioned, but rather a 'HEARD presents…' show, featuring:

Alpine Decline

Bobb Bruno

Fart Barf

Jeans Wilder

Random Patterns

Superhumanoids

Woolen

Woah Hunx

Plus! Installations, live art, bar, DJ's!

The price for entry is now $7

HEARDfest will take place. We have the infrastructure ready to put on a really great festival and in our minds there is no doubt that it will take place in the near future. We're already planning it. We apologize for the confusion and the ol' bait-and-switch, but we have been caught up in an issue that is larger than we are and there isn't much we can do beyond cursing the man at this point.

We hope to see you there on the 14th and again at the second first ever HEARDfest!

Hugs and kisses,

H.O.E
