On April 3, HBO brought its immensely popular escape room challenge to the campus hot on the heels of a successful run at SXSW. HBO: The Escape puts players through an immersive experience in the middle of three of the network's most popular shows: Game of Thrones, Veep and Silicon Valley. In an Oval Office set inspired by Veep, teams need to find a series of keys that will eventually lead to a ballot box and another puzzle to determine the exit code. Inside the Pied Piper startup workshop from Silicon Valley, circuit boards need to be assembled, but not before an electrical overload forces teams to work in the dark. Finally, players enter the snowy, frozen world of northern Westeros where they have to find and gather a series of rusted gears to open the gate of Castle Black, which leads to their ultimate escape. Each room has its little surprises — some hilarious, some terrifying.
Students also lined up throughout the day inside the John Wooden Center to obtain that Holy Grail of profile pics: a photo on the Iron Throne.
