HBB is a DJ and a Music Producer who has been lately making waves in the music scene. He is renowned for his distinctive fusion of multicultural inspirations and electrifying energy. HBB, an abbreviation derived from the Arabic term “Habibi,” meaning “my love” or “my dear,” is a true representation of a fusion of worldwide cultures, with roots in Iraq and a diversified upbringing spanning Africa and the United States. His emotionally charged and rhythmically dense music attracts listeners and provides them with a memorable aural experience.

HBB traveled to the United States in 2009 and enrolled at the University of Southern California to pursue a degree in civil engineering, which marked the beginning of his journey into the center of music. But it wasn’t until he experimented with a friend’s mixer in 2016 that he realized he had a natural knack for making catchy songs. HBB started experimenting with rhythms and atmospheres after being influenced by legendary musicians like Solomun, unintentionally setting the stage for an incredible musical journey.

HBB is a well-known independent who breaks down genre boundaries. His dynamic live performances are colorful experiments that skillfully combine organic, minimal/tech, and progressive sounds. HBB, who first concentrated on minimal and tech house, is now hoping to incorporate his Middle Eastern background into the organic house scene. He anticipates changing the dance music scene by 2024.

HBB is genuinely unique because of his capacity to establish a close bond with his audience and turn every performance into an interactive story. His presentations are elevated through collaborations with live musicians, such as violinists and drummers, who provide an unmatched and immersive experience for the audience. A noteworthy turning point in HBB’s career was the publication of four original tunes under different labels in 2023, which demonstrated his versatility and proficiency on a range of platforms.

His place in the world of music has been solidified with hits like “I Set Your Funk” and “The Handsomest Drowned Man” in Strictly Selected, “How I Knew” through Strictly Records, and “Don’t Walk Away” under HBB Records. His ability to captivate crowds, whether at major festivals like Lightning in a Bottle and Sunset 2 Sunrise or small-scale events in the desert, is evident in these albums.

There are a lot of fascinating projects on HBB’s calendar. Kicking off 2024, HBB is on the verge of launching the year with the release of his latest endeavor, a two-track organic EP that vibrantly revisits the roots of his initial musical inspirations. His increasing prominence is bolstered by partnerships with Los Angeles musicians and a standout New Year’s Eve gig opening for Jimi Jules and Davi. HBB is positioned to make a significant influence on the electronic music industry thanks to his dedication to investigating cultural connections through music.

With its upbeat percussion beats and smooth basslines, the EP “I Set Your Funk” captivates listeners and provides a glimpse into HBB’s soul. The single “The Handsomest Drowned Man,” which was inspired by a short story by a high school student, has distinctive vocals from the audiobook of the story, which gives the song an intriguing depth. HBB‘s engaging performances reflect his belief in the significance of a DJ’s energy exchange with the crowd.
