They don't make Christmas specials like 1963's The Judy Garland Christmas Special anymore. As Judy and her kids sing “Consider Yourself” from Oliver! in their living room, famous friends Mel Torme and Jack Jones stop by to croon carols and cut the rug. Just like real life. Peter Mac stars as J-Gar in a version that adds Ethel Merman, Paul Lynde, Mae West, Tallulah Bankhead, Robert Goulet, Bea Arthur and Katharine Hepburn to the party crashers. I know what you're thinking: A gay man doing Judy Garland again? Mac's interpretation isn't the falling-over, pissy version many impersonators do, but a healthy and robust Judy full of sass. The Gardenia, 7066 Santa Monica Blvd., Hlywd.; Wed.-Sat., 9 p.m.; $15; resv. recommended. (323) 467-7444.

Dec. 14-17, 9 p.m., 2011
