The news that marijuana can harm your immune system is a little funny to us. Funny because in L.A. pot is sold over-the-counter at hundreds of stores under the guise of medicinal use.

According to a University of South Carolina study on the effects of cannabis on the immune system, weed smokers are more susceptible to cancers and infections.

The researchers found that pot's cannabinoids actually fire up cells that suppress the immune system. (Explains all those sick days you took in the '90s).

“Cannabis is one of the most widely used drugs of abuse worldwide, and it is already believed to suppress immune functions, making the user more susceptible to infections and some types of cancer,” Prakash Nagarkatti, a microbiology and pathology professor at the University of South Carolina, stated.

So if you feel a cold coming on this winter, it might not be wise to take this particular medicine. In fact, cutting out the vaporizer and focusing on vitamin C might be more “kind” for your body.
