The man behind Spinal Tap’s Christmas with the Devil (“The elves are dressed in leather/And the angels are in chains”) knows how to have a good time during the holidays. For 15 years, the actor, radio host and master of many voices on The Simpsons has been co-hosting this schmaltz-free Christmas variety show with his wife and singer-songwriter Judith Owen. Together they turn the Largo stage into their living room and invite comics, actors and other celeb pals to sing traditional holiday tunes and original songs (last year, Shearer wrote “Why No Bailout for Santa?”). Past guests have included “Weird Al” Yankovic, Catherine O’Hara, Paul Shaffer and Christopher Guest. This year’s lineup features Jane Lynch, Peter Asher, Randy Minkler, The Song Birds, Dona Oxford, Julia Fordham, Amy Engelhart and others. Proceeds benefit My Friend's Place, a non-profit for homeless youth, and OUR HOUSE grief support center.
