Merry Christmas, nerds.

Looks like Harry Potter the theme park is coming to town even though we know you've been way too nice.

The place will likely be called Wizarding World of Harry Potter. And it'll be located at Universal Studios Hollywood.

Gov. Jerry Brown was in town to make the announcement. His office stated the theme park will …

… bring hundreds of millions of dollars into California's economy, help create jobs and support our tourism industry.

And repel hot chicks far and wide.

Reports indicated the park will be modeled after the successful Wizarding World of Harry Potter attraction at Universal Studios Orlando.

A theme park expert told KNX 1070 Newsradio this morning that the attraction added 36 percent boost to Universal Studios Orlando's revenues after opening.

So will Harry solve L.A.'s unemployment problem?

Not even with a magic wand. The place isn't expected to open until at least 2015.

[Updated at 5:39 p.m.]: Universal sent us the announcement, with a quote from J.K. Rowling:

I am delighted that The Wizarding World of Harry Potter has been so popular with fans since the opening in Orlando last year and I am sure that the teams at Universal and Warner Bros. will bring their expertise and attention to detail to Hollywood to make this new experience equally as exciting.

The park will be launched under a partnership between Warner Bros. Entertainment, which owns the film rights to Harry Potter, and Universal Parks and Resorts.
