A Los Angeles County Sheriff's official this week said a man alleged to have killed three others in West Hollywood over four or five pounds of marijuana confessed to the slayings.

The triple homicide Thursday night at a North Kings Road apartment was described as a drug deal gone bad. Sheriff's Lt. Pat Nelson told Associated Press that Park admitted shooting the three after a deal over pot somehow fell through.

Bernard Khalili, 27, and brothers Pirooz Moussazadeh, 27, and Shahriar Moussazadeh, 38 were killed in the attack shortly after 9 p.m. Park was charged Wednesday with three counts of capital murder.

Park, 31, was arrested Monday morning after a sheriff's patrol car equipped with license-plate scanner alerted to the suspect's vehicle. Multiple pounds of cannabis were allegedly found in the vehicle.

Authorities said at least two of the victims bought and sold marijuana in deals mostly with area medical marijuana dispensaries.

The case seems to have inspired Sheriff Lee Baca to rant against dispensaries. In comments published in the Los Angeles Times, Baca stated:

“The medicinal marijuana program that voters authorized years ago has been hijacked by underground drug-dealing criminals who are resorting to violence in order to control their piece of the action.”

The city of Los Angeles, meanwhile, which saw nearly 600 dispensaries open before a June ordinance outlawed most of them, has essentially stopped enforcing its pot-shop rules, inspiring some allegedly outlaw outlets to get back into the business.
