The Hard Summer Music Festival on Saturday saw sixteen hospitalizations and 31 medical emergencies, according to a statement from Brian Humphrey of the Los Angeles Fire Department.

The DJ-driven event was put under the spotlight after last year's Electric Daisy Carnival rave has the source of more than 200 medical emergencies during two days at the L.A. Coliseum.

Hard, at Los Angeles State Historic Park near Chinatown, is less a rave than a concert: Its lineup include pop act Chromeo of and rap crew Odd Future, putting eclectic music ahead of nonstop electronic beats. Still …

ABC7 called the party a “rave.” The station reported there were 10 arrests in and around the fest.

Hard tweeted that the event sold out, although capacity or crowd estimates weren't available to us.

HARD Haunted Mansion is scheduled for October 28 and 29 at the Shrine Auditorium near USC. Fatboy Slim is the headliner.

Update: LAPD Officer Cleon Joseph told the Weekly today there were 17 arrests, mostly for “narcotics-related” allegations. It was a figure first reported the Huffington Post.
