Summer days driftin’ away … but oh, those Saturday nights! The big dance-music events are mainly on Saturday this week, and just in case the hipsterama Hard Music Fest at the Shrine isn’t your beatbag (see feature on LA Riots, page 85), we offer some diverse alternatives. Those willing to drive out to San Bernardino will be rewarded with Awakening, from Insomniac Events, which offers Infected Mushroom (live), John “OO” Fleming, ak1200, gridlok and more in an “ancient Egyptian setting.” Insomniac parties are always big on the old-school themed-rave atmosphere, and the Mushroom never fail to pulverize onstage, so this might be worth the gas money. Hudson Theatre, 295 E. Caroline Ave., Unit A, San Bernardino; 9 p.m.-5 a.m.; all ages. www.insomniacevents.com.

More centrally located, the Wet pool party summer series continues with some top-tier San Francisco treats — DJs David Harness, Julius Papp and Franky Boissy — doing a tag-team set with locals Marques Wyatt (Deep), Wiseacre (Funky in the Middle) and Eduardo Castillo. Custom Hotel, 8639 Lincoln Blvd., Westchester; 1-10 p.m. (after party inside hotel til 2 a.m.); over 21. www.homemadela.com. Pass on the pool and head to Glow at the Santa Monica Pier if you’re looking for more esoteric rhythms: “Tonalism” offers the always-innovative Dublab DJs (in this instance, DJs Frosty, Carlos Nino, Hoseh, Jimmy Tamborello, Sam Cooper, Katie Byron and Ale, along with Part-Time Punks’ DJ Michael Stock) — and more sensory stimulations near the waves. See Hoopla, page 40, for more info. All events Sat., July 19.
