If you need a reason to eat a burger — because sometimes you do, no matter how trifling — today is National Cheeseburger Day. And while there are an awful lot of places in this city to have a fine burger, maybe make your way to Dog Haus instead, where they're celebrating the food holiday by giving away free mini-cheeseburgers until 5 p.m. today.

All three locations of Dog Haus (in Pasadena and Alhambra) will be giving away the miniaturized cheeseburgers, and they sound good enough to make you momentarily forget about that ramen burger: A “grilled onion-infused 2oz Angus beef patty” is topped with white American cheese, grilled tomatoes and “Haus Sauce” and served on a King's Hawaiian Bun. And because what's here today is not necessarily gone tomorrow, you'll also be able to find these on the restaurant's permanent menu if you don't make it out this afternoon. Regardless, whenever it is that you do go, you may as well get a side of tater tots, too.

And if you're planning ahead, tomorrow is National Butterscotch Pudding Day. As if you needed another reason to go to Pizzeria Mozza.
