Don't worry. It's not the salvia talking. It really is 80-plus degrees in December.

After a summer that saw some record low temps in late July, the heat has arrived during the holiday shopping season. The city of San Gabriel almost reached 90 degrees over the weekend. In mid-December. Sorry to confuse your garden.

According to the National Weather Service, the following high-temp records for the date fell Sunday:

-LAX hit 83 degrees and beat the record (82) set in 1952.

-UCLA hit 87 and beat '52's record of 83.

-Burbank Airport hit 85 (besting '53's 83).

-San Gabriel got up to 89, beating out 1988's 88.

-Camarillo hit 88, beating 1980's 81.

Downtown L.A. missed 1895's record of 86 by one degree.

Expect another day in the 80s Monday. Don't trip. Enjoy it.
