Though Circus Disco, its sister club on the adjoining lot, has an even longer history, Arena (in a former ice factory) is no spring chicken. In fact, she celebrates her 17th year this week. Known mainly for gregarious gay nights, the two-level, ultra-modern space, which underwent a remodel a few years ago, continues to attract a lively cross-section of clubbers — from familias (all-ages Banda Mexicano events every Sunday) to electro-heads (Red’s world-class DJ events) to bodacious boys (the most popular such bash being Thursday’s roarin’ hit-fest Tigerheat). But if you want to experience Arena in all its multiculti, polysexual glory, check out this Saturday’s official anniversary party, when Latin gay club promoter Delicious offers “Diva’s Night,” a celebration featuring their boldest drag queens. Expect a mix of Latin musica and U.S. chart-toppers, both sung and lip-synched, plus free champagne and a buffet (of food and fellas). 6655 Santa Monica Blvd., Hlywd.; Sat., April 28, 9 p.m.-4 a.m.; 21 & over. (323) 462-1291 or www.arenanightclub.com.

For a more youthful and (sorta) less flamboyant night of revelry, we recommend another celebration, Check Yo’ Ponytail’s one-year anniversary party at Safari Sam’s this Tuesday. They’re promising two “super-secret” guests, plus NYC hellcat Roxy Cottontail, Muscles and Making Time’s Dave P — but the usual wacky rock and dance-trash melds from DJs Franki Chan and Paparazzi are enough to keep this hipster ho-down happy week after week. 5214 Sunset Blvd., Hlywd.; Tues., May 1, 9 p.m.-2 a.m.; 18 & over. See www.safari-sams.com for ticket info.
