Ortolan has been open for 5 years, and to celebrate the half-decade, chef-owner Christophe Émé (Taillevent, L'Orangerie) and his wife, actress Jeri Ryan (Star Trek: Voyager, Psyche), are hosting a special anniversary dinner tomorrow, Saturday, February 6th. The party will begin with a complimentary cocktail reception starting at 7:30 p.m., followed by a five-course prix fixe menu for $95 per person (with a $45 wine pairing available). So what's on the menu? Seared foie gras with mushroom soup and Parmesan emulsion; Émé's signature scrambled egg served in its own shell with Ossetra caviar; steamed turbot with baby potatoes, sea urchin sauce and green asparagus. “I am happy to be here after 5 years. I'm lucky to still be doing well, despite all the challenges to being in business today,” says Émé, who is a man of few words, or at least few of them that can be deciphered through his French accent, which is about as thick as that sea urchin sauce. Happy Anniversary, chef. Many you have many more.
