Available through Sunday, October 31, Angelenos can visit Shutters on the Beach’s multiple dining outlets – 1 Pico, Coast, and Living Room bar – for ghoulish concoctions like The Poison Apple, a Spider’s Bite and the dramatic Smoky Calavera. Or take a broom ride across the street to the Hotel Casa del Mar for a Witch’s Heart. If you plan to stay in and play mixologist, make these boo-zy cocktails at home for your Halloween party this weekend or horror movie night.

Spider’s Bite

  • ¼ oz. Lime Juice
  • ¼ oz. Luxardo Maraschino Liqueur
  • ½ oz. Midori Liqueur
  • 2 oz. Grey Goose Vodka
  • Mint
  • Prosecco

Witch’s Heart

  • 2 oz. Don Julio Tequila
  • 3/4 oz. Solerno Blood Orange Liqueur 
  • 3/4 oz. Perfect Purée Corazon
  • 1/2 oz. Lime Juice
  • 3/4 oz. Crème de Mûre 
  • Dry Ice

It’s a bummer that the beloved West Hollywood Halloween Carnaval is canceled this year, but you can do your own DIY Halloween Bar Crawl. Start at the intersection of Santa Monica Boulevard and Doheny Drive. Then, work your way toward La Cienega Boulevard. Along the way, sample some wicked beverages like the Pump-kin Spiced Old-Fashioned at PUMP, the Sangre de Cuba Sangria at Beaches WeHo, the Bloody Maria at Rocco’s WeHo, the Diablo Margarita at Fiesta Cantina WestHollywood and the Ghost Rider at Riviera 31.

Carl’s Jr. is treating – not tricking  – customers this Halloween weekend with the return of the infamous El Diablo Thickburger in Los Angeles. You can get a limited-time taste from Friday, October 29 through Sunday, October 31, at the 5625 W. Century Blvd. location. The El Diablo Thickburger small combo comes with fries and a drink for $6.66.

Running through the last day of November, L.A. residents are in for a very special Halloween treat – this week, Sugar Taco and Daring are teaming up to serve food all over the city for free.

Sugar Taco has partnered with Daring Foods, and will feature a limited-time Fried Chicken Taco through the end of November, featuring Daring’s popular Original Breaded pieces that are fried and topped with lime slaw and pickled jalapeños. In celebration of the launch, Daring and Sugar Taco are also debuting a food truck that will be serving up the tacos as well as nachos, all across Los Angeles for free.  

In honor of Dia de los Muertos, ElPolloLoco is giving away two personal-sized loaves of Pan de Muerto bread with every Familia Dinner purchase on Monday, Nov. 1. Traditionally prepared as part of Día de los Muertos ofrendas, the Mexican sweet bread is flavored with orange blossom and anise. El Pollo Loco also commissioned L.A.-based artist Steve Martinez to paint a mural on the exterior of its Inglewood location to commemorate the holiday.

If you’re in the mood for Sweet & Sour Chicken Feet, head over to Cal-Asian Culver City restaurant Piccalilli on Saturday, Oct. 30 and Sunday, Oct. 31. To pair, Piccalilli has conjured up a cocktail called Dracula’s Last Word made with Ford’s Gin, Luxardo Maraschino, Green Chartreuse, Lime Juice and a dripping Luxardo Cherry Rim. This specialty Halloween cocktail is available through Halloween.

Pan de Muerto (El Pollo Loco)

Downtown L.A.’s neighborhood natural wine bar and restaurant, Good Clean Fun, will host a Vampire-themed Halloween Party on Sunday, October 31, which will include a costume contest (vampires encouraged, all costumes welcomed), spooky décor, and plenty of music. Costume contest winners will receive a free bottle of wine, and guests can revel in Mommenpop aperitif jello shots and a one-night-only dessert special, the “Broken Glass Blood Cake” (chocolate cake, white buttercream frosting, sugar candy “glass” shards and raspberry “blood”) from pastry chef Marina Pilar-Arand. The Vampire Ball kicks off at 5 p.m.

Trick or Treat at GCM at Grand Central Market downtown. Bring the entire family for treats, and hang around for dinner. On Sunday, October 31, GCM will host a special evening of costumes and candy, inviting guests to dress up and join the trick-or-treating fun throughout the market. GCM vendors will be handing out candy to those age 10 and younger starting at 4 p.m.

Halloween at Ike’s Love & Sandwiches means kids eat free. With the purchase of any regular sandwich, Ike’s is offering a free kid’s sandwich on Sunday, October 31 and free lollipops. Choices include turkey, salami, grilled cheese, chicken strips, PB&J and vegan chick’n nuggets. Find your nearest shop here. 

Plant-based restaurant The V Tree Hollywood, headed up by celebrity chef and soul food oracle Chef Velvet, created a Bob’s (Vegan) Burgers, inspired by FOX’s animated comedy pop-up for Halloween starting on Friday, October 29 through Sunday, October 31. The New Bacon-ings Burger, which she veganized from Season 1/Episode 1 is made up of Impossible burger, vegan cheese, lettuce, tomato and soy-based vegan bacon.
