It was only a year and a half ago that New York singer/songwriter Hailey Knox was embarking on the headline tour for her Hardwired Mixtape and releasing the accompanying video for the song “Hardwired.”

“Conceptualized in her bedroom and written on a hotel floor, ‘Hardwired’ is one of Hailey’s most personal songs in her already impressive catalog of work,” read the press release, an accurate assessment.

October saw her drop the “a boy named pluto” single, of which she said, “I wanted to make a song about two fictional characters. While writing, we really pulled from our imaginations and put ourselves in the shoes of Pluto and Genevieve, the characters we created. I feel like one idea leads to the next when I write – I rarely go in with a main concept. I often write from my own experiences but I wanted to try a different approach – writing a story about other people.”
