Gwendolyn Pointer Killed on Leimert Park Hit-and-Run Crash

LEIMERT PARK, CA (August 12, 2021) 60-year-old Gwendolyn Pointer died after a hit-and-run accident on 39th Street in Leimert Park.

The collision happened just after 2:49 a.m. August 9, near the intersection of 39th Street and Crenshaw Boulevard.

According to reports, Pointer was heading south on Crenshaw Boulevard when she stopped and exited her vehicle to tend to a cat in the road.

There, a driver struck Pointer and immediately fled the scene. The driver allegedly stopped and retrieved a piece of her vehicle but did not render any aid to Pointer who was lying on the road, the CHP added.

Paramedics arrived and declared Pointer dead at the scene.

Around 6:30 a.m., police took 26-year-old Kateara Treggs of Inglewood, into custody for felony and hit-and-run charges. She is scheduled to appear at the Los Angeles County Superior Court on December 6.

The Leimert Park Police is asking anyone with information about the crash to contact their local police hotline. An active investigation is still underway.
