A guy was trying to run from police in Winnetka by jumping roof-to-roof until he got stuck in the 20500 block of Sherman Way, Jeff Collado of the LAPD's Topanga Station said.

The cops say he was on drugs. You don't say.

First mistake: Running around the roof of an apartment complex is a bit conspicuous. Police received a call about 12:30 a.m. of somebody on the roof of an apartment complex, Collado said.

A police helicopter spotted him, and according to police, that's when the fun began and he started jumping roof-to-roof.

His final jump was from the roof of a three-story building to the roof of a one-story building (awesome!). He wasn't injured, but he was stuck.

Police and firefighters used a ladder truck to get on the roof. They put the guy in the rescue basket and lowered him to the street.

The man was under the influence of an unspecified controlled substance, Collado said. Let's all guess which one. His name was not released.
