Fiery Collision near Crescent Drive Left Two Men Dead
MADERA COUNTY, CA (September 8, 2023) – Friday night, a car collision on Avenue 17 claimed the lives of Gustavo Quexada-Chavez and Arturo Carabez Ochoa. The incident happened on August 25th, at around 9:46 p.m., on Avenue 17, east of Crescent Drive. According to reports, a Nissan Altima, driven by Quexada-Chavez traveling east drifted onto the right shoulder and hit Ocha, who was unloading corn from a Ford F-250 pickup. The impact of the collision pushed both vehicles into a chain-linked fence and caused the Altima to catch fire. Good Samaritans used buckets of water and a fire extinguisher to put out the fire and extricated Quexada-Chavez from the vehicle. Other bystanders called for emergency crews to be dispatched to the scene. First responders arrived shortly after and pronounced both men involved in the incident dead at the scene. They are identified as 42-year-old Arturo Carabez Ochoa, of Kerman, and 42-year-old Arturo Carabez Ochoa, of Kerman.Sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Gustavo Quexada-Chavez and Arturo Carabez Ochoa.
