Motorcycle Accident near Mellwood Drive Left One Fatality

OAKLEY, CA (February 2, 2023) – Early Sunday morning, police responded to a motorcycle crash that claimed the life of Gustavo Garcia. It happened at about 3:10 a.m., January 29th, at the intersection of Laurel Road and Mellowood Drive. According to police, 48-year-old Garcia was speeding with his motorcycle when a vehicle pulled out from Mellowood Drive onto Laurel Road. Consequently, Garcia struck the vehicle and was sent up at least 100 yards away from his motorcycle. Furthermore, responding officers and paramedics pronounced Garcia dead at the scene. Meanwhile, the intersection was blocked during the length of the investigation and was later reopened by 9:00 a.m. No additional information was added as the crash is still under investigation.
