Bad boy. Allegedly.

Police say a 10-year-old went to a rival's home to threaten him after he got into a fight with the door-knocker's friend. Except a grandmother answered. And she got a eye full of what appeared to be a real, Colt semiautomatic handgun, Burbank police told the Weekly.

It all happened …

… about 5:30 p.m. yesterday in the 1100 block of Evergreen Street, Burbank police Lt. John Dilibert tells us:

He was holding the gun in hand and yelled, 'You suck,' and ran away.

The Burbank neighborhood seems ironically bucolic:

Contrary to other reports, the lieutenant says the gun is not a toy. Rather it's an air gun that shoots soft pellets. You can buy them at Big 5 Sporting Goods. They hurt, especially if you're a grandma. Dilibert:

We keep telling people these are not toys.

After police checked out the grandmother's story, they went to the home of the 10-year-old and found out he had beef with the woman's grandson because he got into a previous fight with the alleged gunman's friend, Dilibert says.

The boy, whose name was not released, was arrested on suspicion of “brandishing a weapon in a lewd or threatening manner,” the lieutenant says.

He was released to his parents, but he still could face trouble if the District Attorney's office decides to charge him.
