We've been hearing for some time about how the music industry is in crisis. That may be so, but you wouldn't know if from the cost of concert tickets this summer.

The below charts, courtesy of secondary ticket marketplace Vivid Seats, gives us the gory details for three of the city's priciest venues: Staples Center, the Rose Bowl, and the Hollywood Bowl. The charts don't list all of each venues' shows, and the ticket prices quoted only apply to those sold on the site. Still, you'll be shocked.

Staples Center Summer 2014

law logo2x bHey math geniuses – you know what median means, right? In this case, not the average, but the “middle” ticket price. Using that metric, Katy Perry's September 20 show is shaping up as the most expensive at Staples Center this season, $275. However, the “get-in price” (ie, the cheapest ticket) is a bit more affordable, at $75.

Want to see Lady Gaga? We suggest her second show, on July 22, whose median price is over $100 cheaper than the first. 

Rose Bowl Summer 2014

law logo2x bThe Beyonce and Jay Z show has the highest average ticket price of the summer, $433 for their August 2 performance. This means that the most expensive tickets are INSANELY expensive.

But that doesn't mean the cheapest tickets are cheap – they're $152.

The first One Direction show at the Rose Bowl, on September 11, is actually the least expensive, probably because it's on a Thursday, while the other two are on the weekend.

Believe it or not, the most expensive ticket for the Hollywood Bowl's roster is Linkin Park with 30 Seconds to Mars and AFI. The September 15 show has the highest get-in price ($62), as well as the highest median price at $185.

But hey, if you want to see Elvis Costello with Ben Folds, it's a relative bargain, with cheap seats “only” $28.
