“New Fang,” the advance single from supergroup Them Crooked Vultures drops today, whetting the appetite of millions of old-school rawwwwk fans who are still recovering from the shock of learning that their fantasy-baseball team-up of Josh Homme (Queens of the Stone Age), John Paul Jones (Led Zeppelin), and Dave Grohl (“Satan” in the Tenacious D movie and perhaps in real life as well) has actually come to life.

(The Vultures are playing November 17th at the Wiltern. They're also giving away for a limited time their song “Mind Eraser, No Chaser” for free at the iTunes store!)

But that's not the only reason for celebration today at the Grohl compound, where surely he lives surrounded by guitars, lackeys, exotic pets, and piles upon piles of varied currency. The piles in fact, will soon be getting taller thanks to the simultaneous release of a Foo Fighters compilation (with or without a special edition DVD) AND a new Nirvana live set at Reading from 1992 (also with optional special edition DVD).

However, while lesser mortals might celebrate their good fortune, Grohl reportedly will spend the day skulking on his throne of skulls and pondering why nobody has offered to put out a special edition DVD of the Probot project.
