La Cucina Italia last week named Gregory Slattery as its new publisher. Slattery previously oversaw First for Women, Woman's World, Soap's in Depth and ID Magazine for Bauer Media Group, reports MediaPost.

Slattery takes over for 76-year-old George Hirsch, a publishing industry veteran (and avid marathoner) whose five-decade history in the business includes helping to found New York magazine.

Hirsch, who has been at La Cucina since 2006, announced in mid-December that he would step down and retire so La Cucina could hire someone who “knows a lot more about the digital world than I do.”
