68-Year-Old Motorcyclist Killed in Two-Vehicle Accident near Airport Drive

BAKERSFIELD, CA (July 7, 2023) – Late Sunday morning, Gregory Charles Salyer was fatally struck in a motorcycle collision on State Road.

Officers responded to the scene shortly after 11:15 a.m., at the intersection of State Road and Airport Drive.

Per reports, the rider was heading west on State Road and entered the intersection at the same time as another car that failed to stop at a red light. As a result, the vehicle collided with the motorcyclist.

Upon arrival, authorities discovered the motorcyclist lying on the roadway with life-threatening injuries. Medical personnel rushed the rider to Kern Medical where he eventually succumbed to his injuries.

Authorities later identified the deceased victim as 68-year-old Salyer, of Bakersfield.
