One Dead, Multiple Injured after Auto Collision near Heber Road

HEBER, CA (May 12, 2022) – Sunday, Gregorio Gomez was killed and Elena Gomez and Ashley Castillo were hurt in a car crash on Highway 111.

According to California Highway Patrol, 89-year-old Gomez was heading south and veered into the oncoming lane.

As a result, Gomez collided head-on with an oncoming white vehicle driven by 40-year-old Ashley Castillo.

Subsequently, Castillo’s vehicle hit another car driven by Carlos Jimenez.

Due to the extent of his condition, first responders pronounced Gregorio Gomez dead at the scene.

Meanwhile, a passenger in the red sedan, identified as 84-year-old Elena Gomez, was airlifted to Desert Regional Medical Center with moderate injuries.

Additionally, Carlos Jimenez remained uninjured.

At this time, Heber Officials are still currently working to identify the circumstances surrounding the deadly collision.
