A distinctive set of eyes and a distinguished car could help cops put a road-rage killer behind bars.

Police over the weekend released security video imagery of a late-model Dodge Challenger (above) they say was used in the fatal shooting of a motorist in Arleta. The suspect has a rare set of peepers, too, detectives say:

The shooter appears to be a Latino with green eyes, cops say.

The attack happened about 3 p.m. Saturday as the victim was driving with two friends on-board on Brandford Street under the 5 freeway overpass, according to the LAPD.

Security video show the Challenger passing the Kia just before shots were fired, the department says.

The 22-year-old driver of a Kia died hours later at a hospital in what police say is a case of road rage.

LAPD Lt. Paul Vernon:

With the car's detailed description and the distinct eye color of the suspect, these clues go beyond the typical general descriptors, so we hope they will generate some good leads.

So if you know a local green-eyed Latino who drives a late-model Challenger, particularly in the Valley area, detectives wouldn't mind hearing from you: 818-838-9976.
