On Memorial Day, Los Angeles launched a new summer boat and recreational program on the L.A. River in Elysian Valley near Downtown. This is the first time since the river was channelized in the 1930's that the public will be welcomed to kayak, walk and fish in the river. All photos by Nanette Gonzales.
