The 2022 Grammy Awards will no longer be held in Los Angeles and will be moving to the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on April 3.

This will be the first time Las Vegas will host the Grammys and is doing so after a postponement due to COVID-19 concerns.

“We are excited to take the GRAMMYs to Las Vegas for the very first time, and to put on a world-class show,”  Recording Academy CEO Harvey Mason Jr. said in a statement. “From the moment we announced the postponement of the original show date, we have been inundated with heartfelt messages of support and solidarity from the artist community. We are humbled by their generosity and grateful for their unwavering commitment to the GRAMMY Awards and the Academy’s mission.”

The original date was set for January 31 at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, but the Recording Academy and CBS decided against it and announcing the postponement on January 5.

“After careful consideration and analysis with city and state officials, health and safety experts, the artist community and our many partners, the Recording Academy and CBS have postponed the 64th Annual GRAMMY Awards Show,” the Recording Academy and CBS said in a joint statement. “The health and safety of those in our music community, the live audience, and the hundreds of people who work tirelessly to produce our show remains our top priority. Given the uncertainty surrounding the Omicron variant, holding the show on January 31st simply contains too many risks. We look forward to celebrating Music’s Biggest Night on a future date, which will be announced soon.”

Leading the way in nominations was singer and composer Jon Batiste, grabbing 11 nods, followed by Justin Bieber, Doja Cat and H.E.R. with eight each.

Comedian Trevor Noah will host the award show, as he did in 2021, with the show airing live on CBS from 5 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., and available on-demand on the Paramount+ streaming service.
