Gorgon City Journey to Olympia: British production duo Gorgon City (Kye “Foamo” Gibbon and Matt “RackNRuin” Robson-Scott)’s journey in electronic music began when the pair were 15.

“We both had our own solo projects and toured the world for a few years and then we did a random collab in 2012 and it started from there,” they say.

The two men describe their sound as, “Big house music with deep and emotional vocals.” Meanwhile they say that, despite the pandemic, this is a healthy time for electronic music in their homeland.

“There are loads of amazing producers from the UK making really interesting stuff,” they say. “People like Fred Again are really pushing a great sound and having crossover moments too.”

The duo’s new album, their third, is Olympia. Parts of it, they say, are a bit somber.

Olympia has definitely been influenced by the big shows we have been playing over the years, especially those before lockdown,” they say. “Also as some of it was written during lockdown it has a yearning and melancholic feel to it as well.”

Looking ahead, there’s plenty more to come from Gorgon City in 2021.

“We’ll be doing more remixes and club tracks and will be finally getting back on tour,” they say. “We’ve got a mammoth Olympia Tour to get through and we can’t wait!”
