Evan Kleiman is always our cherry pie, but the chef and KCRW host is looking for a few good pies — from you. The 3rd Annual Good Food Pie Contest will be held September 18th, and there are still plenty of spots open. That should give ambitious home chefs a jolt of excitement. Plus, there's a new category this year: Tim Burton-inspired pie. (We do not recommend human flesh à la Sweeney Todd.)
Entry fee is $10 per pie. Maximum one entry per category:
- Cream/Chiffon/Mousse
- Fruit
- Nut
- Savory
- Tim Burton-inspired
A few tips: The crust is key. Stick with classic flavors. Don't go too weird or too “foodie.” (A rosemary balsamic sweet potato and blueberry pie is good for a bit but not a whole slice.) Just bake it.
