Tara FinleyWhile community service has always been a part of their business model, Golden Road has stepped up during the pandemic to ensure Angelenos get the food they need.
Golden Road Brewing has made it their mission to keep families fed during a time of school closures and financial crises, donating 500 meals weekly to Project Access to support low-income households. Project Access is a leading provider of health, education and employment services to families, children and seniors living in Southern California’s affordable housing communities.
In addition, the L.A.-based brew comapny has begun donating 100 meals weekly to Dream Center in support of the resource center’s mission to combat hunger, homelessness, and more.
“Instead of donating money to an organization, we felt it would be most impactful to do something that went directly to those who need help,” explains Adam Levoe, Director of Restaurant Operations at Golden Road Brewing. “Preparing meals that can be delivered the same day to the most at-risk population seemed like the best way we could immediately make an impact.”
All students in need can head to the brewery every Friday for 50 percent off menu items with a valid school ID. Restaurant industry workers are also invited to do the same.
Golden Road has implemented these services in order to not only help their customers, but to keep their staff employed.
“We are very lucky here at Golden Road to be in a position to keep our doors open and our entire staff safe and employed in these unprecedented times. We feel it is very important to use that position to do all we can to help our community and those in need,” says Levoe.

Food-related support for all will be offered at every Golden Road pub location, thanks to their new Pub Pantry. A resource for connecting individuals with crucial household items like toilet paper, groceries and baked goods, pubs will be open daily from noon to 8 p.m. for to-go service only.
“Pub Pantry is an extension of our take out menu,” describes Levoe. “We have added essential items like milk, eggs and toilet paper to our online and pick up menus. These are all items we already have, or have access to that the public may not. By implementing this initiative we are creating a safe place for our patrons to get essential items without much face to face interaction, we have created another avenue to get items folks may not be able to find at the local grocery store, we are also hopefully relieving some crowding at the grocery stores. We have done all of this while keeping prices in line with (or below) what you will find elsewhere.”
A dozen eggs are selling for $2.75 at the pantry, 4 oz. of Soyrizo for $1.25, assorted cereals for $1.50 each and toilet paper for $0.50 a roll.
Of course, beer and wine are still flowing freely. Perhaps needed now more than ever, the Pub Pantries will also fill growlers and pack up canned beer and wine to-go. Drive-thru is available at the Huntington Beach, Anaheim, and Atwater Village locations in order to reduce contact and encourage social distancing. Delivery is also available via Uber Eats, Grubhub and Postmates.
