Putting out a DJ Kicks mix collection is definitely a funky feather in the cap for synth duo Chromeo, and this week the pair’s tour in support of their new release sees them massaging the decks at Discotheque, downtown’s wild, undergroundish gathering thrown by Nitrus and MFG. Destructo, Villains, Paul Devro and Thee Mike B round out the floor raging, which, if the Chromeo’s Dave 1 and P-thug’s Kicks comp is any indication, should be varied and seductively retro (Leo Sayer, France Joli and Eagles remixes grind alongside newer, soundtrack-y stuff). Bonus bumping: 740 downstairs will be taken over by DANCEiSM and its spazzy spinners: Ben Oprstu, Robot Love, MiCHAEL and Acid Circus (Droid Behavior). 740, 740 Broadway, dwntwn.; Fri., Oct. 9. Tickets and info: discothequeparty.com. Post-punk partiers will surely attend the annual Part Time Punks Festival Sunday at the Echoplex for live shaking, but for a wax-centric take on post-punk, fans should flock to the Standard Downtown too, where a PTP Pre-Party will have vinyl DJ sets from Hugo Burnham and Dave Allen (Gang of Four), Don Bolles (The Germs), LTM Recordings’ James Nice, Acute Records’ Dan Selzer and others. Signings are also promised from bands on the fest bill. 550 Flower St., dwntwn.; Sat., Oct. 8, 2-6 p.m.; free. parttimepunks.com.
