National Go Topless Day apparently went off without a hitch in Venice over the weekend. The Los Angeles Times reported that about two dozen women and nearly two hundred onlookers gathered for the demonstration against laws that treat chest-baring differently for men and women.

The GoTopless.org group that organized Sunday afternoon's protest on the boardwalk also staged similar events in San Francisco, Chicago, New York, Denver, Miami Beach and Seattle.

While the organizers got a permit for the event after promising that protesters would wear pasties over their nipples, the group's website boasted that participants would wear “latex nipple covers…that look EXACTLY like nipples!”

Men were recruited to show their support by wearing red bikini tops that were handed out Sunday.
