It's kind of ironic to contemplate sharing stories at a now-public arts facility that began life as newspaper tycoon William Randolph Hearst's gift to his girlfriend, actress Marion Davies — a sprawling waterfront estate where the likes of Chaplin, Garbo and Gable were entertained and were entertaining. The property's second life as the 1%-er's members-only Sand and Sea Club was reimagined as a public space thanks to Wallis Annenberg's happy memories and a big grant. Come join the Tell Your Story Circle with Lucy Wang: New Year, New Beginning and “express vivid memories and discover new inspirations” in a spirited group exchange moderated by the playwright and 2012 Beach House Writer in Residence. Mull over Wang's jumping-off points — How do you usher in the New Year? Court good fortune? What accomplishments are you most proud of? If you had to transcribe your life into music, what does the “mixtape” sound like? — as you don your beach costume, and arrive early for a docent tour of the facility while envisioning a bright 2012 for you and your loved ones.
