Even for some people who generally don't give two hoots about the Super Bowl, this year's game is interesting. At the very least it's an excuse to gorge on gumbo and beignets. Or look to the following local restaurants, delis and bakeries for game appropriate meals and snacks.

Who says cupcakes are femme? Sprinkles is appropriately styling its cakes specifically for the big event, so show your fan spirit with boxes of six red velvet and six vanilla cupcakes, topped with sugary football doodads and your team's name. Each box costs $46 for pick-up or delivery on February 6 and 7.

The Larchmont Larder will cook for your Super Bowl crowd, with choices such as winter veggie crudites with herbed buttermilk or blue cheese dip, jumbo shrimp cocktail, spicy buffalo wings, turkey chili, jalapeno corn bread. Order for Saturday pickup.

Though usually not a six-foot-long sub kind of place, Little Dom's deli sandwiches can be ordered extra long this weekend. Sandwiches include Little Dom's Muffaletta (why of course), truffled chicken salad and arugula, meatball and provolone, and roasted tomato and pesto focaccia, or salads and veggies such as farro with grilled squash, Brussels sprouts with parmesean, roasted Romanesco. Place orders by Friday at 6 p.m. for Sunday pickup.

Think intervals of 5, not 1, 2, 3 or 6 for food and drink deals at The Lab near USC. Sunday's specials include $5 Trojan Blonde beers; $5 boneless buffalo hot chicken wings, or wings with mango sweet & sour sauce; and $5 spinach artichoke dip.

The televisions are in the middle of the market at 326 bar, but where better than the Original Farmers Market to gather? Folks at the Gumbo Pot probably will be the to party and eat with that day at Third and Fairfax. Just hope for a good outcome to keep the mood afloat.

6333 W. Third St., Los Angeles; (323) 933-0358.

For more good stick-to-your-ribs New Orleans culinary cheer, Harold & Belle's should be buzzing, too, and Cole's bartenders will be busy making Sazeracs all Sunday afternoon.

2920 W. Jefferson Blvd., West Adams; (323) 735-9023.

118 E. Sixth St., Downtown; (213) 622-4090.

Or forget about the Super Bowl entirely, and enjoy the flat screen-free environment at Cecconi's. The West Hollywood-by-way-of-London Italian beautiful people spot is the perfect Euro setting for a Super Bowl Sanctuary on Sunday from 3-7 p.m. Definitely not your hot wings kind of vibe, but instead take advantage of two courses for $35 or three for $45 including Dungeness crab with ahi tuna and avocado; roast prime rib-eye with cauliflower gratin, winter root vegetables, and truffle jus; and chocolate fondant, pistachio ice cream. The afternoon meal includes a pint of Peroni or glass of prosecco, plus free valet parking before 6 p.m.
