Josue E. Navarro Arrested after Fatal DUI Crash in Bloomington

SAN BERNARDINO, CA (December 1, 2022) – Saturday afternoon, a DUI crash claimed the lives of Gloria Cardenas and Mireya Cardenas.

The fatal collision happened around 3:46 p.m. along Hawthorne Avenue, east of Palm Lane.

According to reports, an eastbound 2008 Chevrolet Silverado collided with a parked vehicle on the north curb of Hawthorne.  The collision pushed the parked vehicle forward and it struck three pedestrians that were walking nearby.

First responders arrived shortly after and declared 13-year-old Gloria Cardenas dead at the scene. Meanwhile, paramedics rushed 40-year-old Cardenas to a hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries.

Officials state that the two deceased victims were residents of Fontana. In addition, the third pedestrian is recovering at the hospital after suffering from serious injuries.

In the end, CHP officials arrested the Silverado driver for DUI and other related charges. Police identified the driver as 43-year-old Fontana resident Josue E. Navarro.
