Hazel Hammersley is a 2-year-old with stage 3 neuroblastoma cancer. After treatement at Children's Hospital Los Angeles, she went home last night with a full tummy thanks to the nerds on discussion board Reddit.

After she expressed her desire for pizza via a sign in her Hollywood hospital window, her online fans responded with nearly 30 pizzas over the weekend, a CHLA spokesman told us:

The response was so incredible that Hammersley shared with the whole floor, including other kids, their visiting parents, nurses and doctors, the spokesman says:

They had more pizza than they knew what to do with.

In fact, so much pie came in that Children's Hospital has to notify folks that “pizza [is] no longer needed.”

We assume it was the girl's mother, Lauren Hammersley, who actually put the pizza request into motion. And she expressed gratitude to the Reddit community:

… A HUGE thank you from all of us! We are so surprised by the outpouring of support and are so grateful! Thanks for all the pizza!

The thing is, this was about more than three hot slices in a baby's tummy. It was about heartwarming gestures for a girl battling cancer. If lifted her spirits, says the spokesman:

She's actually doing quite well.
