52-Year-Old Pedestrian Dies in Big-Rig Collision on Fairfax Road

BAKERSFIELD, CA (May 16, 2022) – A pedestrian crash on Niles Street claimed the life of 52-year-old Gina Rebecca Castaneda Friday evening.

According to police, the incident happened around 8:30 p.m., at the intersection of Niles Street and Fairfax Road.

Authorities said the victim was walking through an intersection when a semi-truck making a right turn stuck Castaneda. Eventually, first responders arrived and declared Castaneda dead at the scene.

Meanwhile, Bakersfield Officials are working to identify the semi-truck driver who fled the scene after the collision.

Moreover, both directions of the roadway were temporarily closed down to allow for cleanup and preliminary duties.

At this time, authorities continue to investigate the deadly hit-and-run semi-truck crash on Niles Street.
