With Coachella on this week’s calendar, L.A. is likely to be somewhat of a ghost town even after the fest is over. Many of us will need recovery breaks, after all. Still, some strong weekly parties are holding down the dance-party fort, and the lines to get in might for once be bearable. Friday’s PYT at Jimmy’s Lounge is always a blast, with DJs like Desert Eagles and surprise guests spinning electro and nu-rave for a small but packed and usually uproarious dance floor. The expansive outdoor patio is often even more bouncin’, especially in the corner photo booth, so arrive stylin’ and ready for your close-up. Pash on Thursdays at The Room attracts its own flood of pretty young things, and it’s no less posey/prancey. Still, dancing is the main attraction, and DJ Myles Hendrick and co. always bring the best rock, retro and new movin’ grooves. If you haven’t seen The Room’s sleek remodel, this is the night to do it, since the scenery is as smashing as the sounds. (And if you’re reading this the Thursday before Coachella, check out guest DJs the Misshapes from NYC.) Warning: If you’re not on the lists or don’t know the passwords to get into these spots, arrive real early or you might not get in, no matter how big or small the crowds outside are. PYT Fridays at Jimmy’s Lounge, 6202 Santa Monica Blvd., Hlywd., and Pash Thursdays at The Room, 1626 N. Cahuenga Blvd., Hlywd. Both 10 p.m.-2 a.m.; over 21; full bars; free with list.—Lina Lecaro
