During a Valentine's Day show in Seattle, Bryan Cook decided to try something different. He gave a few comics the mic with the condition that they write and perform bits of erotic fan fiction — you know, those DIY romances featuring characters like Edward Cullen and Bella Swan, or maybe Spock and Kirk, in flagrante delicto? As you might imagine, the crowd went wild (perhaps a little too wild?) and Cook decided to spin off the segment into its own show. Get an even larger dose of steamy fan fic with the Competitive Erotic Fan Fiction First-Anniversary Show, in which 10 comics will weave sexy tales from their own ideas or audience suggestions. Expect the usual comic book store visitors hanging around, plus the silly ramblings of comics you might actually recognize. Sean Patton appeared on Comedy Central, Virginia Jones starred in a few episodes of Portlandia and Beth Stelling made it onto our list of 12 L.A. Comedy Acts to Watch in 2013. Of course, all that won't matter if the comedians can't deliver a hilariously perverse rendition of characters like Breaking Bad's Jessie and Walt getting it on. Not your choice of lovers? Get your own suggestions ready, then, for this night of hilarity. Nerdist Showroom at Meltdown Comics, 7522 Sunset Blvd., Hlywd.; Tues.,, July 16, 9 p.m.; $8 in advance, $10 at the door.
