FRIDAY, November 9

If you’re nutty enough to ride a motorcycle in Los Angeles, then you probably already know about the first-ever California Bike Week, which is really more of a three-day weekend featuring races (flat track and drag), demos, a trade show, stunt riders (yes, moronic yet adroit) and Harleys, Harleys, Harleys! The highlight of the whole shebang is Sunday’s Love Ride 24, in which riders leave from Glendale and arrive (we hope) at Pomona Fairplex for a concert by Gregg Allman — who damn well better rock everyone’s shocks off. Pomona Fairplex, 1101 W. McKinley Ave., Pomona; Fri., Nov. 9, 10 a.m.-6 p.m.; Sat., Nov. 10, 10 a.m.-10 p.m.; Sun., Nov. 11, 10 a.m.-4 p.m.; $20/day general admission; $30/day for Fri. and Sat. races; $75 for Love Ride concert and barbecue. Ride begins at Harley-Davidson/Buell, 3717 San Fernando Rd., Glendale; sign-up begins at 6 a.m. www.calweek.com & www.ticketmaster.com. (877) CAL-WEEK (877-225-9335).

SATURDAY, November 10

They could’ve called this a night with Gerry and the Atrics, but instead, they’ve gone with the safe, boomer-friendly title of the Rock and Roll Reunion Tour, showcasing Rick Derringer, Badfinger’s Joey Molland, and Mitch Ryder & the Detroit Wheels. Now, if you can match each act to its hit, you are in for a dream of a show: “Devil With the Blue Dress On”/“Hang On Sloopy”/“Day After Day.” Cerritos Center for the Performing Arts, 12700 Center Court Dr., Cerritos; Sat., Nov. 10, 8 p.m.; $27.50-$57. (562) 467-8818.

If you, like most people, have no idea where Cerritos is and have vowed to keep it that way, stay urban for The Downtown L.A. Movie Locations Scavenger Hunt, where you’ll stressfully bolt among locations used in L.A. Confidential, Ed Wood, Barton Fink, The Grifters, L.A. Story and New York, New York (huh?). Call for meeting location; Sat., Nov. 10, 2-4:30 p.m.; $20. (877) ?9-G0-HUNT.

SUNDAY, November 11

He was a punk before you were a punk. That would be Brendan Mullen, the man who brought us the Masque, the legendary club where X, the Go-Go’s, Bags, Black Randy, the Plugz, Skulls and other L.A. punk pioneers became semi-legends. Finally, Mr. Mullen, along with Roger Gastman, has compiled a book called Live at the Masque: Nightmare in Punk Alley (I would have called it Kills Germs Dead!), and they’re throwing a party called Punk Veterans Day 2007, with some of the bands who didn’t die: the Plugz, the Eyes, the Deadbeats, Skulls, Controllers, the Dogs, the Zeroes and more. This is an amazing opportunity to see Tito Larriva, Barry McBride and Charlie Quintana of the Plugz in their first show since 1982, performing Electrify Me in its entirety. Charlotte Caffey of the Go-Go’s, DJ Bonebrake of X and Joe Ramirez of Black Randy & the Metro Squad reunite for the Eyes. Mr. Mullen tells us, “The fun feature bound to be minor controversy is the L.A. Punk Hot 100 list — a list of the best tunes from that era, regardless of the politics of trendiness, without regard for who wrote or recorded them . . . Everyone’s gonna have their bitches and moans about what got left off. To them I say fuck off. Do your own fuckin’ list!” And if you still have your Germs burn on your wrist, you will receive a coupon for Hometown Buffet. (Restrictions apply!) Echoplex, 1154 Glendale Blvd., Echo Park; Sun., Nov. 11, 3 p.m.; $20. (213) 413-8200. See page 34 for a preview of Mullen’s Masque book.

MONDAY, November 12

Sarah Silverman, Bob Odenkirk, Dana Gould, Andy Kindler, Frank Conniff, Maria Bamford, Marc Maron, Paul F. Tompkins, Hard n Phirm and Jimmy Pardo: What you’ve got right there is a Top 10 list of local comics. Any one of those names would be worth a cover charge and two-drink minimum. You can see them all on one bill at this Comedy Benefit for Tom Sharpe. Sharpe’s a local comic who’s fighting Lyme disease, which is not funny at all, but his pals have gotten together to give us more laughs per dollar than KFC gives us calories per dollar. Just go. Steve Allen Theater, 4773 Hollywood Blvd., Hlywd.; Mon., Nov. 12, 8 p.m.; $25. (323) 662-2523.

TUESDAY, November 13

How can I contribute to a community garden? How can I help the Earth and my neighbors? Why am I asking you? Projecto Jardin and the Brown Berets invite everyone to learn about Planting Seeds Through a Concrete Foundation: Urban Ecology in L.A. It’s a “hands-on, get-in-the-dirt” affair that teaches you gardening techniques for the greater green good. University Greenhouse, Biology Bldg., Cal State L.A.; Tues., Nov. 13, 1 p.m.; free. (323) 343-5001.

WEDNESDAY, November 14

The Savages is a new film directed by Tamara Jenkins about a brother and sister and their aging father. It sounds pretty excruciating until you learn that the movie stars Laura Linney and Phillip Seymour Hoffman, both actors who have a knack for choosing projects of such a high caliber that they might even change your life! Linney and Jenkins answer questions after the screening. Part of “Reel Talk With Stephen Farber.” Wadsworth Theatre, 11301 Wilshire Blvd., W.L.A.; Wed., Nov. 14, 6:30 p.m.; $20. (310) 479-3003.

THURSDAY, November 15

It’s a big week for punk rock tomes. Amy Wallace and Handsome Dick Manitoba (he of the Dictators fame) have compiled The Official Punk Rock Book of Lists, with more than 200 wacky lists, including Most Offensive Songs, Stupidest Band Names, Punk Sell-Outs, Fashion Don’ts, plus contributions from members of Guns N’ Roses, the Ramones, Little Steven Van Zandt, Nick Tosches, Lenny Kaye and Debbie Harry. Wallace comes to town to share the filth. Skylight Books, 1818 N. Vermont Ave., Los Feliz; Thurs., Nov. 15, 7:30 p.m.; free. (323) 660-1175.
