Swedish doom band Candlemass joined California black metalheads Volahn to stoke fans to mayhem status at the Regent in downtown L.A. on Wednesday, May 24. While black metal often delves into the depths of Nordic mythology, Volahn digs into pre-Hispanic history, infusing their dark music with lore from the empires of the ancient Americas. Playing a classic set focusing mainly on their earliest albums, Candlemass gave an extremely rare show to Los Angeles as part of a brief, four-city tour. Fans became part of the show too, executing flawless stage dives and circle pits galore. All photographs by Hannah Verbeuren. Instagram: @hannahvphotography
