38-Year-Old Driver Killed in Auto Collision near Edison Road
BAKERSFIELD, CA (October 3, 2022) – Thursday, a head-on crash on David Road involving Gerardo Espinoza claimed the life of one person.
The incident happened shortly before 6:40 a.m., near Edison Road.
Officers say a Buick Rendezvous, driven by Espinoza, collided with a Toyota Matrix on David Road. According to reports, the Buick was traveling west and the Toyota was traveling east when the two vehicles crashed head-on.
The impact of the crash caused both drivers to sustain serious injuries.
Due to the extent of their condition, medics declared the 38-year-old Matrix driver dead at the scene. Although, their identity has not been released, pending notification of next of kin.
Meanwhile, paramedics transported 66-year-old Gerardo Espinoza, of Arvin to Kern Medical Hospital for moderate injuries.
Following preliminary duties, police said drugs or alcohol did not play a role in the incident. However, Bakersfield Officials will provide more information once available.
