58-Year-Old Man Killed in Two-Car Accident on Baseline Road

PHOENIX, AZ (October 18, 2022) – Wednesday afternoon, George Ybarra was killed in a rear-end collision near 24th Street.

Police responded to the scene just after 5:00 a.m., near Baseline Road on October 12th.

According to reports, Ybarra was traveling west on Baseline Road when he rear-ended another vehicle. The impact of the collision left Ybarra with severe injuries.

Additionally, the other female driver also sustained injuries.

First responders arrived and declared 58-year-old Ybarra dead at the scene. Meanwhile, paramedics transported the injured woman to a local hospital for treatment.

Afterward, both lanes on Baseline Road were shut down to allow for cleanup and preliminary duties.

Following preliminary investigations, police listed impairment as a factor in the crash. However, further events leading up to the incident are still under investigation.
