18-Year-Old Toyota Driver Dead after Auto Accident on Live Oak Boulevard

SUTTER COUNTY, CA (July 22, 2022) George Sewell and Edward Garcia were hurt and a driver was killed in a head-on collision on Highway 99.

The accident occurred around 7:50 p.m., near Live Oak Boulevard on July 20th.

For reasons unknown, an 18-year-old Olivehurst man was driving a 2006 Toyota Solara south on the northbound lanes.

Consequently, a northbound 2017 U-Haul van driven by Sewell, collided head-on with the Toyota. The collision caused the U-Haul to overturn and left Sewell and Garcia with serious injuries.

Officers responded shortly after and declared the 18-year-old Toyota driver dead on scene. Meanwhile, paramedics took 53-year-old Sewell and 20-year-old Garcia to Adventist Health Hospital for medical care.

At this time, officials said alcohol or drugs may have been a factor. However, the deadly collision remains under active investigation.
