Jorge Eduardo Torres Arrested after Hit-and-Run Crash near Prado Road

SAN LUIS OBISPO, CA (March 6, 2023) – Saturday night, 22-year-old Gavin Matthew Robinson lost his life in a bicycle hit-and-run on Higuera Street. The incident occurred on the night of February 11th, along South Higuera Street and Prado Road. The CHP says the events leading up to the collision are unknown, but the bicyclist was hit by two different vehicles. Officers declared him dead on the scene. The first driver drove away while the second driver remained and cooperated with the police. Police eventually apprehended the suspect, 19-year-old Jorge Eduardo Torres, and charged him with felony hit-and-run and vehicular manslaughter in connection with the fatal collision. Moreover, San Luis Obispo police ask that any witnesses contact the on-duty Watch Commander at 805-781-7313, referencing SLOPD case number 230211070. Investigations into the fatal bicycle crash are currently underway.
